Eloise wstaje za dnia i postanawia sprawdzić, czy wszystkie wampiry są w domu. Niestety większość drzwi jest otwarta, co znaczy, że nie wrócili. Dziewczyna idzie na najwyższe piętro i odkrywa z ulgą, że Vladimir jest w swoim pokoju. Spotyka Ivana, który mówi jej, że Aaron też jest w domu, ale nocował w jego pokoju. Dziewczyna jest zmuszona czekać do następnego wieczoru. Gdy budzi się w nocy, Vladimir już siedzi w jej pokoju. Bohaterkę niepokoi fakt, że Vlad ma klucze do jej pokoju i może wchodzić, kiedy mu się podoba, więc prosi o ich zwrot. Wampir zgadza się bez większych przeszkód. Następnie schodzą na dół wysłuchać co Ethan i Beliath mają do powiedzenia. Bohaterka wpada na pomysł, by poszukać poszlak za dnia, gdy nic jej nie grozi. Vladimir nie jest tym zachwycony, ale zgadza się. Dziewczyna przy okazji kupuje mu prezent i spotyka po drodze przyjaciółkę z sierocińca. Po powrocie do rezydencji pakuje prezent i wręcza go Wampirowi w bibliotece, po zdaniu raportu, ze swojego dochodzenia. Vladimir proponuje pokazać jej naprawy, jakich dokonał w ogrodzie. Udają się tam następnej nocy. Wampir zwierza się dziewczynie, że osoba, która jest dla niego tak ważna to jego matka i to dla niej poświęcony jest ten ogród. Bohaterowie coraz bardziej zaczynają się rozumieć, a na koniec Vladimir znów gryzie Eloise.
Nie mogę w to uwierzyć ... Cała ta organizacja, cała impreza była tylko pułapką ...
A koniec wieczoru w niczym nie pomógł.

I was too little to remember much. I was only a year old when I was brought to the orphanage.
Even though I was still a baby when I came to the orphanage, I’ve thought about them every day since I was old enough to understand they were the people in the photos.
It’s complicated… I didn’t know them, so I can’t really “miss” an experience I never had in the first place.
