Raphael was a famous artist from the renaissance period before he became a vampire. Being raised as a Catholic aristocrat he has excellent manners as well as a rather old-fashioned style. He is a gentle, calm, observant, understanding man who has a love for literature, arts and the natural world. His words are soothing and poetic. He greatly values the traditions of vampires, and although he does miss his former life as a human, he fits in well with his housemates. Raphael tends to initially be rather closed off however, and dwells on old memories due to his sensitive nature all the while hiding the pain he is feeling. This and his high standards make his relationship with Eloise progress slowly and delicately.
